Rozálie Horká

I come from the small Moravian town of Uherské Hradiště. After eight years of studying at the local grammar school I was accepted for a triple degree in Political Science, Philosophy and Economics at the University of York in the UK. It was during my undergraduate studies that I began to fully realize the possibilities that quality foreign universities can provide to their students. Both academic, career and extra-curricular opportunities. In York, I helped to set up and then lead a social project aimed at redistributing surplus food from shops and supermarket chains to social centers. I also worked for several months as an intern for the European Delegation in Namibia. It was mainly thanks to this experience that I started to focus on economics. I believe that this field is key to understanding and solving many problems in our society. Mr and Mrs Krsek scholarship has now opened the way for me to go on to study for an MPhil in Economics at the University of Oxford. I love jazz and play several musical instruments. In my spare time I try to delve deeper into the art of photography, hiking or traveling. I also pursue many other (often very different) interests - and so for the last few years my biggest hobby seems to be having no spare time.
